BAYKO Parts History

The purpose of this page is to provide a source of information as to when every colour of each BAYKO part was manufactured [not sold] and the large table [below] is intended to kraal this data in the simplest way I can - yes, I'm aware it doesn't look too simple!
Except for the Windows, where the major style changes are identified separately, [these style changes have such a massive impact on the model's appearance] the table doesn't attempt to separate out variations in moulding or material.
Several BAYKO parts were known by different names at different stages in the life of the product. These part names are identifiable as they look like all the other conventional hyperlinks. If you slide your mouse over the those names, the various alternatives will be displayed via a small 'tool tip' label.
This pink background [below] highlights the 3 separate parts which make up the complete Dormer Roof Unit set.
The list is intended as a reference document for enthusiasts rather that being exciting - still enjoy!
The smaller second table [farther below] shows the less exciting, but non-the-less crucial, accessories like Rods and Floors.

moulding and colour variants of BAYKO parts.

Time Summary.

The total commercial life span of BAYKO was from 1934 to 1964
…however, there was limited production, literally packed on the Plimpton family's kitchen table, late in 1933
…and there was also limited, virtually unadvertised, production, between 1964 and 1967, after the TRI-ANG takeover.
There was also a break in production during the war years, from 1942 to 1946 - priorities‽
Re-emergence of some BAYKO parts such, as Domes and Pinnacles, was restricted before 1949.
All the dates quoted [above and below] are production date estimates.

Rarity Level Codes

The codes within the fourteen coloured columns in the table below are intended to give you a quick assessment
as to just how easy, or otherwise, the different colour variants are to acquire to boost your collection.
C = Common
U = Uncommon
R = Rare
V = Very Rare
? = Do they exist?
For Red background items, these codes are in white ink, purely for legibility.
